Gawthrop Greenwood Welcomes Community Association Lawyer Rachel M. Sorokin

West Chester, PA – March 30, 2026 – The law firm Gawthrop Greenwood, PC is pleased to announce that community association lawyer Rachel M. Sorokin has joined the firm as an associate, representing the needs of homeowners’ and condominium associations in what has become the fastest-growing form of housing in Pennsylvania.

Focusing on community association governance, compliance and formation, as well as related zoning and land use issues, Sorokin works closely with boards and community leaders to provide practical, client-focused guidance that helps associations operate effectively while minimizing the risk of disputes and litigation.

Prior to focusing on community association matters, Rachel gained valuable experience in municipal tort defense litigation, supporting municipalities across Pennsylvania in personal injury and premises liability matters.

“Rachel is a relationship builder, which is so essential to the open communication and support needed by the homeowners associations, condominium associations, cooperatives and insurance companies that turn to Gawthrop Greenwood for legal counsel,” said Stephen R. McDonnell, chair of the management committee at Gawthrop Greenwood. “Her forward-thinking perspective on risk management enables her to help clients proactively address governance and compliance issues before they escalate into litigation.”

Sorokin is based in Gawthrop Greenwood’s West Chester office, where she joins one of the largest law firms supporting homeowners associations (HOAs), planned communities, condominium associations and cooperatives across Pennsylvania in the residential and commercial arena.

Sorokin earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School, where she served as a Staff Editor for the Widener Law Review and was a member of the Transactional Law Honors Society and the Richard S. Rodney Inn of Court. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from James Madison University. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of both the Chester County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
