2023 State of the County

Description

Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry will host the annual State of the County on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, 8:00AM- 10:00AM at Desmond Hotel Malvern.

Chester County Commissioners Michelle Kichline, Josh Maxwell and Marian Moskowitz will answer questions and address the issues and successes of Chester County in the past year- and discuss issues facing our future. 

Guests will also enjoy networking opportunities and a seated breakfast. 

The J. Larry Boling Award for Excellence in Local Government will be presented at the event. This award honors a professional in the local government public sector of Chester County who has established excellence in their jurisdiction in the administration of government through economy, efficiency, introduction of sound business practices, and projects or initiatives that demonstrate innovation.

Emcee will be Lucy Bustamante, morning news anchor for NBC10 and breaking news anchor for Telemundo62.

Fluent in Spanish, Lucy is the daughter of Cuban refugees who migrated to the U.S. in 1969. She was born and raised in New Orleans in a home that only spoke Spanish. The skills she learned as a child, of translating between Spanish and English as a first generation American, formed her foundation for her vibrant role as a bilingual anchor at NBC10 and Telemundo62.

Lucy is a two-time Emmy award winner. She was honored for her work anchoring the explosion of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions plant in South Philly in June 2019. She received several Associated Press awards for best anchor, three regional Edward R. Murrow awards in 2011 for writing a documentary explaining the Affordable Care Act in Virginia. She also received one for breaking news in 2004 in New Orleans and a Peabody Award for coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Before that, she traveled to Cuba to cover the first gubernatorial trade trip between Louisiana and Havana under President Bush.
